Day of Action: York U wants $15 and Fairness!

Premier Doug Ford has recently said that he intends to scrap Bill 148 wholesale.

This means that he wants take away two paid sick days (and require doctor's notes for sick days), job-protected leave for emergencies, equal pay for PT/ temp/contract workers, new scheduling laws for shift workers, and make it harder to join and keep a union.

This is the largest single attack on workers' rights in Ontario since Mike Harris.

Let's make sure we fight to protect and extend our labour rights. Come by to petition to students, staff and faculty at York U!

We're gathering signatures from York students, staff and faculty to protect our $15 minimum wage! We need as many people as possible to hand out information so our community can be informed, and be ready to fight back.

Take urgent action for $15 and decent work laws!

The $15 minimum wage and decent work legislation, such as paid sick days, equal pay rules and laws to make it easier to join a union, are all up for grabs. The minimum wage increase is currently scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2019. Now more than ever, we need to continue to campaign to keep it from the hands of the big business lobby.

Join us on October 15 for our province-wide day of action by signing up below and tell Doug Ford: Hands Off Workers’ Rights!

EMERGENCY RESPONSE: When legislation is tabled, take the same plan you have made for October 15, and do it the day AFTER the legislation is tabled. Keep it simple.
